About Me
Hello! Thanks for checking out my website!
I am a 22-year-old Jewellery designer and maker, originally from the east coast of Fife, but now make all my jewellery by hand in my home near Stirling. I like to keep my designs simple, mainly taking inspiration from the simple patterns I saw while learning different techniques. My favourite technique is wire wrapping, where I wrap thin silver wire to create patterns and 3D forms. I like to use wire wrapping as the main element in many of my designs, giving them a unique style. I keep my designs gentle and delicate, perfect for everyday wear. The most important thing in my design process is making sure my jewellery is practical and comfortable to wear.
Growing up, I had a love for all creative hobbies. But, like many artists, I didn’t focus on pursuing an artistic career until the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, I experimented with the jewellery-making skills I already had, such as wire wrapping and beadwork, to develop my own designs, with the intention of selling my work.
In 2022, I was awarded a Creative Scotland Youth Arts Bursary with Fife Contemporary to help develop my skills as a jeweller and provide the equipment I needed, which helped me turn my passion for jewellery into a business. I am incredibly grateful to Fife Contemporary for giving me the opportunity and working with me to enhance my natural creative talent and ambition to start my own business.
"We were so delighted to be able to offer Cerys the Youth Arts Bursary. She had an obvious creative talent and was keen to learn. She has since grabbed this opportunity with both hands, and it has been a delight to see her flourish" - Kate Grenyer, Fife Contemporary
The bursary program enhanced my jewellery by giving me access to high-quality materials and the opportunity to learn new techniques. During this development, I learned how to solder, which gave me so much more freedom with what I could design.
Since finishing working with Fife Contemporary, I have had the privilege to join different markets in St Andrews, Dundee, Leith and Blair Atholl. I have loved taking part in these markets, and I would like to work towards joining markets in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
I am looking forward to expanding my little business with new designs, more markets, and hopefully displaying my work in a shop! You can keep up to date with me through my socials, linked at the top and bottom of the website. Thank you for your support!
